Cory R. Wang attended Colby Community College from 2001-2003. He was one of the two original recipients of the Criminal Justice Scholarship funded by the City of Colby's Special Law Enforcement Fund. Cory became a Thomas County Deputy Sheriff, Thomas County K-9 Service Office and Deputy Marshall for the City of Brewster.
Micki Steele-Blair, Cory's mother, started the Cory R. Wang Memorial Scholarship at Colby Community College in memory of Cory and to further his passion for the Criminal Justice program.
2007 was the first year the Cory R. Wang Memorial Scholarship Fund was awarded on a competitive basis.
Students eligible to receive this full-tuition scholarship must have intentions of becoming-- or must already be-- a full-time student majoring in Criminal Justice at Colby Community College. This scholarship is open to high school students, transfer students, first year, college students, and students already attending Colby Community College. To qualify for this scholarship students must have attained and must maintain a 3.0 GPA.
