On May 2, 2007, the Thomas County Community Foundation hosted a dinner meeting featuring Salina attorney, Pete Peterson. Mr. Peterson, who played a pivotal role in the founding of the Greater Salina Community Foundation, which currently has an endowment of over $40,000,000, gave a very infomative talk explaining a recent expansion of the TCCF's investment policy, following Salina's lead, which will now allow contributions of $25,000 or more to continue to be invested by area money managers, even after such funds have been received by our Foundation. That means that if a donor wants to endow money ($25,000 or more) with the Foundation, they get to keep the same outside money manager, whether it be a bank, trust company, brokerage firm, etc. Our hope is that this new endowment opportunity will make it possible for the Thomas County Community Foundation to work more successfully than ever before, both with-- and for-- all of Thomas County's residents.
Not only did Mr. Peterson help to raise community awareness about our new investment policy, but after his meeting he generously gave the TCCF a great offer. Mr. Peterson, Salina attorney, is willing to do the legal work for free for the first donor who contributes at least $100,000 to the Foundation. What a great deal! So don't wait, become a donor today and help us to better our community!
