Colby Walking Trail Fund

This fund has been initiated as a passthrough fund for donations to construct Phase I and future phases of the Colby Walking Trail. The goal of this project is to improve the health of students, families and communities by creating new public trails to increase the opportunity for physical activity. The trail will be designed for users of any age at any level.

The Thomas County Coalition, The MAC, City of Colby and the Wellness Committee – have come together to build a walking trail in Colby. Each group has resources to contribute, each group has ideas about features to include on a walking trail, and each group is committed to working together to make the trail system a reality in our community.

The vision: A long-range plan for a trail system that continues to connect all parts of Colby. Materials would be environmentally friendly and purchased locally as much as possible. The Colby Trail System would accommodate walking, cycling and individuals in wheelchairs. Phase 1 would be a public recreational walking trail with signs, lighting, shade trees, and landscaping. A portion of the Phase 1 trail could be used for rehabilitation. A children’s fitness area, “exersite,” would be incorporated in Phase 1.

The Phase I portion of the trail will be located by the new Aquatic Park and will contain two loops, providing for 1/2 mile of trail.

If you would like to donate to this fund, please send your checks payable to "Thomas County Community Foundation" with "Colby Walking Trail" in the memo section.
