The Thomas County Community Foundation is a public, nonprofit organization with 501 (c) (3) status that pools the resources of many donors and focuses grant making efforts in Thomas County, Kansas. Board of directors and staff of the foundation seek to build permanently endowed funds, using the interest generated for charitable, community betterment.

The Thomas County Community Foundation has COVID-19 disaster relief funding available NOW for eligible Thomas County organizations.

State Farm Insurance

Drive & Drop food drive at State Farm Insurance in Colby, Kansas. We will be accepting food, cash, pet food and cat litter.  This will be every Thursday from 3:30-5:30. 

All food and cash donations will go to Genesis Food Bank in Colby and pet supplies to United Methodist Church.

State Farm Neigh-bear will be present passing out coloring books to the kids.

Hansen Match Month is April1-May 31st.

 April is our Hansen Match Month. This means for every dollar donated to our campaign, Dane G. Hansen will match it. If we raise $50,000 Hansen will match it, therefore we have the potential to raise $100,000.  Since 2001 we have disbursed over a million grant dollars to (70) different non-profit organizations in Thomas County.  In 2019, TCCF disbursed $134,558, with 70% going to youth-oriented educational support, scholarships and youth leadership. Funds disbursed to the community service categories was 20%, a few of these grants were: NWKS Hope Foundation, Genesis, Community Service Organizations, Churches, Brewster Restaurant. Cultural Heritage was 10%.  In addition to providing grant $ for scholarships and non-profit organizations, TCCF host Santa's Workshop, Annual Fishing Derby, Thomas County Fair Breakfast, Youth Outdoor Skills Day, Archery Workshop for the Girl Scouts and the Summer Youth Program hosted by the Colby United Method Church. A few scholarships we offer are: Terry Strutt Memorial SS, Lena J. Patterson CNA Nursing SS, Chuck Dempewolf Community SS, Leilani Thomas I-70 SS, Sacred Heart Church SS, Health Science Retention SS and Joyce Lauritsen Gatlin Scholarship.

Dane G. Hansen Foundation Grant Applications

Local organizations who are applying for more than $10,000 are encouraged to submit a grant proposal to the Dane G. Hansen Foundation by way of the Thomas County Community Foundation. Applications are accepted on the 25th day of every month. The Dane G. Hansen Foundation Community Initiative Grant application can be found on the left side bar.

POSTPONED | 2nd Annual Golf Tournament "Cultivating NW Kansas Values."

Due to COVID-19 precautions, the Golf Tournament has been postponed...hopefully, we can have in June.  The date shown is a tentative one.  We will post information as soon as we know when it can be rescheduled.  Join us for some fun at our 2nd Annual Golf tournament "Cultivating NW Kansas Values",starting at 10:00a.m.  Meal  5:00-6:00p.m.  Live Auction 6:00-7:00p.m.  There will be a silent auction also.  $260/team of 4.

Quarterly Grants Due

The Thomas County Community Foundation accepts unsolicited grant applications from eligible Thomas County organizations on the last day of each quarter: March, June, September and December. Notification whether grant proposals are accepted or denied are typically given within a month.

An Annual Tradition | Santa's Workshop

The Board of Directors and Staff of the Thomas County Community Foundation would like to thank the many people and businesses who donated gifts for this special day. Our gratitude is also extended to the volunteers, many of whom share their time year after year. Without the generosity and involvement of the entire community, this event would not be possible. Please contact Executive Director Barry Kaaz if you'd like to give a donation or volunteer your time next year. Not only does this charitable event give children the opportunity to purchase affordable gifts for their parents, grandparents and adult parental guardians, but proceeds are also given back to the community to help with immediate needs and concerns.
